Neelmoni Lota (নীলমনি লতা)

Neelmoni Lota (Petrea volubilis) is an exotic, ornamental flowering vine known for its breathtaking cascades of pale blue to violet, star-shaped flowers. Native to tropical America, this perennial climber is also called Sandpaper Vine, Purple Wreath, and Queen's Wreath internationally — and its poetic Bengali name was given by none other than Rabindranath Tagore. The vine's leaves have a distinctively rough, sandpaper-like texture on their upper surface. While individual flowers are short-lived, their long-lasting violet calyces remain on the plant, keeping the display colorful for weeks.
